The Phinsider Community Mock Draft is back with the 21st through 25th picks. That means, we have reached the Miami Dolphins’ selection, which was made by UK Dolfan this year. Where did he go for the pick? We will find out below.
This year’s community mock draft continues to run fairly smoothly, and we should be finishing up the first round in the next couple of days. Teams were assigned in this year’s mock draft by randomly selecting community members who volunteered for the exercise. They then submitted their picks via email back to me, with the option to either write up their explanation for the selection as a FanPost or to just use the comments at the end of each results post.
The picks are listed by pick number, NFL team, The Phinsider member making the pick, and finally the pick itself. For picks 21 through 25, the selections were:
21 - Detroit Lions - JRoth - Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee
22 - Miami Dolphins - UK Dolfan - Forrest Lamp, G, Western Kentucky
23 - New York Giants - Kevin Nogle - Garett Bolles, OT, Utah
24 - Oakland Raiders - Finzphan68 - Zach Cunningham, LB, Vanderbilt
25 - Houston Texans - Miami’s jester - Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson
This pick probably came down to two options for UK Dolfan, either Lamp or Cunningham. Both would likely become day-one starters for Miami, so this seems like a good spot either way. Taking Lamp in the first round will probably disappoint some fans, given it is another first-round offensive lineman on the roster, but it also gives Miami, what should be, the last piece in protecting quarterback Ryan Tannehill and opening running lanes for running back Jay Ajayi. It is a solid pick, and should mean Miami does not need to think about the offensive line anymore.
