NFL: Combine Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Another week down, another week closer to the 2017 NFL Draft. That also means another week into mock draft season, with updates continuing to happen as websites update for free agency, the Scouting Combine, and Pro Days. Those mock draft updates mean updates to our The Phinsider Mock Draft database. Today, we get that update.

The mock draft database remains at 56 included predictions this week.

As we have each of the last six editions, we collect the first-round selection of the Miami Dolphins from around the web in the various mock drafts being posted. We list them all below, as well as collect the picks to see who is the top projected selection for the Dolphins. You will also find the previous most popular pick for each of the past database updates located on the side of this article. So far, O.J. Howard, the Alabama tight end, has been the top projected pick, either alone or tied, for five of the first six editions. Last week, however, we saw a change as guard Forrest Lamp jumped into the lead.

This week, Lamp continues to lead, and increases his percentage of mock drafts giving him to Miami up to 18.2 percent. The change from seeing tight ends dominate the mock drafts for Miami earlier this offseason finally starts to take place this week, as Temple defensive end Haason Reddick moves into the second most projected pick position, with 16.4 percent of the selections. He is followed by Michigan defensive end Taco Charlton with 9.1 percent of the mocks, then a tied with UCLA defensive end Takkarist McKinley and tight ends David Njoku from Miami and O.J. Howard from Alabama all picking up selections in 7.3 percent of the mocks.

Jumping over to the position breakdown, defensive end continues to be the most selected position for the Dolphins, increasing from last week’s 34.5 percent to this week’s 43.6 percent of the predicted first rounds. Lamp, as the only guard mocked to Miami, is in second place in the positional standings at 18.2 percent, then tight end in third at 14.5 percent. Cornerback and safety each have 9.1 percent of first-round picks for Miami in this week’s mocks.
