The Miami Dolphins may have received their first good news on the injury front in a long time. During the team’s loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, wide receiver Jakeem Grant made a cut on a slant route and immediately began hopping. He tried to make his way over the to the sideline before falling to the turf with what appeared to be an Achilles tear. It was another blow to the Dolphins, who have been dealing with a ridiculous rash of injuries for the last two seasons, and appeared to be a major injury to a young receiver who was having his best seasons as both a returner and a receiver.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Grant’s injury is not a torn Achilles tendon. That report was echoed by the Miami Herald’s Adam Beasley.
That is great news for Grant and for the Dolphins. He will likely still miss playing time, but not having the full rehab of an Achilles tear is at least a little good news on the injury front.
