Titans at Dolphins injury report Week 5

NFL: Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans Shanna Lockwood-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans are in the final preparations for both clubs as they head into a Week 5 showdown in South Florida’s Hard Rock Stadium. This will be the first game played at the site this year, after Miami saw their originally scheduled home opener postponed due to Hurricane Irma. The Dolphins schedule then had Week 2 and Week 3 road games, followed by a “home” game in London. Finally, the Dolphins will return to Miami to play a game.

And, they come into the game fairly healthy. Running back Jay Ajayi (knee) and center Mike Pouncey (hip) had been on the injury report throughout the week, but were removed on Friday, indicating their Thursday “did not participate” status was just the team’s normal rest time for the veterans. Miami did list five players as questionable: defensive end Terrence Fede (shoulder), cornerback Xavien Howard (shoulder), linebacker Mike Hull (shoulder), cornerback Byron Maxwell (hamstring/foot), and defensive tackle Jordan Phillips (ankle). All of the players were full participants in Friday’s practice for the Dolphins.

One noticeable absence from the injury report this week is linebacker Rey Maualuga, who has yet to make his debut with Miami. After working his way through conditioning issues this summer, Maualuga, who as a late addition to the Dolphins’ roster following the season-ending knee injury to rookie, and presumed starting middle linebacker, Raekown McMillan, has had a leg injury bothering him the last few weeks. Now, it appears, Maualuga is set to get on the field for an aqua debut.

The Titans’ injury report is shorter than Miami’s, but it does have two players already ruled out for Sunday’s contest. Safety Johnathan Cyprien and wide receiver Corey Davis will bothnot play due to hamstring injuries.

The story of the injury report is Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota, who has a hamstring injury he sustained last week. He is officially listed as questionable and has been described as a “game-time” decision.

Tennessee also removed guard Quinton Spain and cornerback Tye Smith from the injury report.

Kickoff for the Titans and Dolphins in slated for 1pm ET Sunday.
