49ers at Dolphins preview: Closer look at 49ers’ injury report

We talk to David Fucillo of Niners Nation to get a better look at how the 49ers’ injury report will impact the team.

Yesterday, we took a look at the Miami Dolphins’ injury report, heading into this week’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. There are clearly question marks surrounding the Dolphins for this week’s game, especially when it comes to the offensive line. What about the 49ers’ injury report? To get a better idea of the impacts on San Francisco, I asked Niners Nation’s David Fucillo for a breakdown of the report.

He provided the following:

Cornerback Jimmie Ward is listed as questionable due to a concussion. He suffered the concussion in Week 11, and after missing practice on Tuesday and Wednesday, he was limited in practice on Thursday and Friday. There is no word where he stands in the concussion protocol. Ward is one of the two starting cornerbacks. If he cannot go, rookie Rashard Robinson will start in his place. Robinson has the length to be a solid cornerback, but obviously has plenty to learn. He has generally played well, but a solid receiver could certainly give him trouble. I imagine he would get time against his former LSU teammate, Jarvis Landry.

Wide receiver Torrey Smith missed Week 11 with a shoulder injury. He was limited throughout this week, but sounds like he's expecting to play. He has been a non-factor for most of the season, so it is hard to get overly excited about his return.

Outside linebacker Aaron Lynch suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 7. He has been at practice the past two weeks, but beat writers are reporting he has looked gimpy. I am pretty sure he won't play this week. Eli Harold starts in his place opposite Ahmad Brooks. Harold suffered a toe injury and was limited on Wednesday and Thursday. He was a full participant on Friday and is not listed on the final injury report. He will start, with Tank Carradine the first pass rusher off the bench.
