The Miami Dolphins have placed starting linebacker Koa Misi on injured reserve, the team announced today. The move corresponds to the team being awarded cornerback Bene Benwikere off waivers from the Carolina Panthers, which was announced earlier in the day.
Misi played in the first three games for the Dolphins this year, recording two starts. He totaled 22 tackles for the season. He was working primarily as the strong-side linebacker for the Dolphins, but has had experience as the middle linebacker as well. Misi was drafted in the second round of the 2010 Draft by the Dolphins. In seven seasons with the club, Misi has recorded 352 tackles, 12 sacks, 11 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries with one touchdown.
Misi has been dealing with a neck injury the last two weeks. His season now appears to be over with the move to place him on injured reserve.
