After diving for an overthrown pass in the endzone, Miami Dolphins tight end Dion Sims has been carted off the field with an undisclosed injury. Sims laid motionless on the field for a few minutes before eventually sitting up, then standing to get on to the cart.
Sims dove for the pass as it sailed out of bounds, landing on his left shoulder and the side of his head. The rest of the Dolphins players formed a semi-circle around Sims as he was being looked at by trainers. After he got on the cart, fellow tight end Jordan Cameron ran over and had a few words for Sims.
Cameron is the only tight end other than Sims on the roster for Miami.
The Dolphins trail the Redskins 3-0 in the second quarter of their Week 1 contest. Washington has the ball in their own territory after Miami fails to capitalize on a Brent Grimes interception, turning the ball over on downs after trying to convert on 4th-and-1.
