A few plays after the Washington Redskins saw wide receiver DeSean Jackson limp off the field, the Miami Dolphins had a similar situation happen to them. Starting defensive end Olivier Vernon left the game after appearing to be kicked in the leg on an attempted screen play by Washington.
He has been officially declared questionable to return with an ankle injury.
Vernon has been walking and running on the sidelines, but is clearly limping and not comfortable.
Terrence Fede, the second year defensive end our of Marist College, replaces Vernon with the first team defense. Derrick Shelby will also likely see additional playing time throughout the game if Vernon cannot return.
The Dolphins currently trail the Redskins 3-0. Washington scored on their first possession, followed by a three-and-out from Miami. Washington again tried a field goal on their second drive, but missed the kick. The Dolphins have the ball on their second possession, as the game transitions to the second quarter.
