The Miami Dolphins renew the rivalry between themselves and the New York Jets this week, hitting the field Monday night in front of a national television audience. Both teams released their final injury reports yesterday in preparation for the game.
Both teams ruled out a couple of players, with linebacker Jonathan Freeny's hamstring and cornerback Jamar Taylor's shoulder preventing them from playing for the visiting Dolphins. The Jets will not have tight end Jace Amaro, who is dealing with the after-effects of a concussion, and defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson, who has a toe injury.
The middle portion of the injury report, the doubtful and questionable categories, was empty for the Jets, but Miami had a few players listed. Under doubtful, meaning the players are 75-percent not playing in the game, the Dolphins placed tight end Charles Clay, with a hamstring and knee issue, cornerback Cortland Finnegan, with an ankle problem, and guard Nate Garner, who is suffering through an illness. None of the three practiced on Saturday. Rookie tackle Ja'Wuan James was the lone played listed under the 50-50 to play questionable category. Miami's starting left tackle, having made the switch from right tackle when the club lost Branden Albert for the year with a knee injury, was limited in Saturday's practice, with a neck injury.
The probable list for Miami, giving the players' a 75-percent chance to play on Monday, included guard Daryn Colledge, who has been dealing with a back problem for the last few weeks, wide receiver Rishard Matthews with a groin issue, running back Lamar Miller with a knee problem, center Samon Satele with a foot injury, and wide receiver Mike Wallace with a chest issue.
The Jets' probable list included 14 players, or just over a quarter of their 52-man roster. Offensive lineman Oday Aboushi has a shoulder problem, linebacker Antwan Barnes is working through a knee issue, offensive lineman Willie Colon also is dealing with a knee problem, running back John Conner is slowed by a groin issue, wide receiver Eric Decker has a toe problem, defensive lineman Leger Douzable has an ankle issue, linebacker David Harris has a shoulder injury, running back Chris Ivory is also dealing with shoulder problems, defensive back Jaiquawn Jarrett has a calf injury, running back Chris Johnson is dealing with knee problems, offensive lineman Nick Mangold has a shoulder issue, running back Bilal Powell has been ill, defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson has a lower back issue, and quarterback Michael Vick has an injured right wrist and is dealing with an illness.
The two clubs kickoff at 8:30pm ET Monday.
