A week after the Miami Dolphins watched defensive starter after defensive starter head to the sidelines with some sort of injury, the team has released their official injury report for their next game, a Monday Night showdown with the New Orleans Saints. From Dannell Ellerbe missing one snap to Cameron Wake missing nearly the entire game, along with Dimitri Patterson and Paul Soliai not even playing, the Dolphins defense simply got crushed by the injury bug against the Atlanta Falcons.
A week later, those same players are scattered all over Miami's injury report. Patterson has once again been ruled out of the game, meaning Nolan Carroll will make his third start at cornerback opposite Brent Grimes. The good news for Miami's secondary, however, is the absence of either Will Davis or Jamar Taylor on the injury report. Both rookie cornerbacks have yet to appear in a regular season game, but could both be on the field at some point Monday.
The Dolphins listed four players as questionable, including the biggest injury story line for the game, Wake. Wake injured his knee early in last week's contest, officially diagnosed the next day as suffering a sprained MCL, and had to stalk the sidelines the rest of the game, unable to return. He has practice this week, but has been limited in what he could do. Wake's ability to play on Monday night, and how effective he will be in any snaps he is able to take, will have a major role in how much success the Dolphins defense has against Drew Brees and the Saints' offense.
Joining Wake on the questionable list are Soliai (knee) and linebackers Jonathan Freeny (shoulder) and Koa Misi (shoulder).
Moving to the probable section of the report, the Dolphin shave safety Chris Clemons and linebacker Dannell Ellerbe listed there as full participants in Saturday's practice, after both having been limited with a hamstring injury and a ribs problem, respectively. Also probable are wide receiver Brandon Gibson (knee), center Mike Pouncey (ankle), linebacker Philip Wheeler (thumb), and safety Jimmy Wilson (groin).
On the Saints' report, they have ruled out defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley (calf) and safety Roma Harper (knee). Safety Isa Abdul-Quddus (ankle), cornerback Chris Carr (knee), guard Jahri Evans (hamstring), runningback Mark Ingram (toe), guard Tim Lelito (calf), defensive end Tom Johnson (hamstring), wide receiver Lance Moore (hand), and defensive end Tyrunn Walker (knee) were all made questionable on the report.
Finally, New Orleans reported wide receiver Marques Colston (foot), defensive end Glenn Foster (ankle), linebacker Junior Galette (hamstring), cornerback Jabari Greer (back), defensive end Akiem Hicks (knee), linebacker Curtis Lofton (knee), tackle Zach Strief (neck), and linebacker Martez Wilson (elbow) as probable.
The Dolphins and Saints kickoff at 8:25pm ET Monday night. Both teams are currently 3-0 heading into the contest.
