The Miami Dolphins head up I-75 today to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium in a Monday Night Football meeting. Both teams come into the contest dealing with injuries, leading to offensive linemen being ruled out, linebackers dealing with knee injuries, and a kicker with an injured groin.
For the Dolphins, the injury report, of course, starts with tackle Jonathan Martin, who has been absent from the team for two weeks now, being ruled out of the game. The Dolphins officially list Martin's situation as "illness." Martin is currently alleging player misconduct among Dolphins players, and specifically guard Richie Incognito, in a story that has been covered from national sports, and news, perspectives. Tonight's game will probably feature plenty of discussion of harassment, bullying, hazing, and racism - all linked to Martin's allegations.
During the Week 9 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, Dolphins cornerback Dimitri Patterson re-injured the groin that caused him to miss most of the season, and now has him back on the injury report, listed as doubtful. A foot injury has rookie linebacker Jelani Jenkins listed as questionable for tonight, along with linebacker Koa Misi with a knee problem.
The Dolphins listed cornerback Nolan Carroll (concussion), safety Chris Clemons (hamstring), linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (calf), guard Nate Garner (knee), tight end Dion Sims (toe), and kicker Caleb Sturgis (right groin) as probable for the game.
On the other side of the field, the Buccaneers have ruled out guard Carl Nicks with a foot injury. Nicks has been fighting a MRSA infection this season, having surgery last month to try to shake the staph infection. Nicks originally caught the anti-bacterial resistant disease during the preseason, missing the first two regular season games before returning, only to develop the infection a second time.
Wide receiver Chris Owusu is doubtful with a foot injury, while linebacker Mason Foster (elbow), safety Dashon Goldson (knee), cornerback Danny Gorrer (groin), guard Davin Joseph (knee), fullback Erik Lorig (toe), defensive tackle Akeem Spence (wrist), safety Keith Tandy (ankle), and linebacker Dekoda Watson (shoulder) are all probable.
Tonight's game kicks off at 8:40pm ET.
