Losing their second straight game last week against the Saints, the Miami Dolphins offense looked like a deer in the headlights. Following an encouraging opening drive last week, the Dolphins offense reverted back to it’s terrible self for the rest of the contest.
Getting shutout by an extremely weak Saints defense, the Dolphins offense has now just scored six points in the last two weeks. While the team does receive a favorable matchup this week against the Tennessee Titans, it will still be hard to trust any members of this team in fantasy football this week.
That said, there are some members of this team that could be sleepers and positive performers for your team in fantasy football this week. Without further ado, let’s get to the Dolphins Start/Sit for Week 5.
Note: Point projections from FantasyPros.com are for standard league’s only. Depending on league type, expectations may be adjusted for these picks.
START
Jay Ajayi (RB) — Fantasy Projection: 12.2 points
Failing to live up to expectations last week, running back Jay Ajayi could be primed for a breakout performance this week. Going against a Titans defense that gave up 173 yards rushing just last week, Ajayi will have a decent shot at recording his season high fantasy total this week.
Jarvis Landry (WR) — Fantasy Projection: 8.6 points
In standard leagues, this may not be much of a play. However, in PPR leagues, Landry remains a must start for your team. Potentially serving as a good sign for this week as well is the fact that Texans wide receiver recorded 10 receptions on 12 targets last week. As both players serve as target hogs for their teams, Landry should be a top performer in PPR leagues this week.
Dolphins Defense/Special Teams — Fantasy Projection: 6.1 points
Putting up an above average performance last week against the New Orleans Saints, the Dolphins defense has officially flipped the script on the offense. Add to this the fact that Tennessee could be without Marcus Mariota this week and Miami’s home opener should be one to remember for the Dolphins defense.
SIT
Jay Cutler (QB) — Fantasy Projection: 14.6 points
Back-to-back poor performances from quarterback Jay Cutler make him a risky player for your fantasy teams. With the run game almost certainly to rebound first for the Dolphins, I believe Cutler shouldn’t even be on your radar until at least after the Dolphins offense begins and upturn of sorts. For now, not only should you sit Cutler, but I would also cut him from my roster.
Kenny Stills (WR) — Fantasy Projection: 5.7 points
So far this season, Kenny Stills has been a complete non-factor for most of all three Dolphins contests. While he did record a receiving touchdown against the Chargers, Stills has been non-existent these last two weeks. With Miami also leaning on a more horizontal passing attack over this same period, Stills value has plummeted. Until this changes, keep him on your bench for the foreseeable future.
Cody Parkey (K) — Fantasy Projection: 6.8 points
Putting up back-to-back zero point performances over the last two weeks, Cody Parkey remains a player that should not even be on your roster. Like last week’s game, I believe Miami’s offense will either play too well or play too poorly to see Parkey even get involved. Overall, Parkey will be a non-factor for the next few weeks at least.
