Well even in a week where the offensive line was down to two starters and was shut out for three and a half quarters, a few Dolphins put up solid fantasy numbers. The defense seems to be stepping up as a run stopping force as Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon were shut down the past two weeks. The prospects look good for the Fins to have a big week against a struggling Niners team that is traveling three time zones for an early kickoff.
Note: The point projections are based on a standard PPR league scoring (0.5 PPR) with fractional points.
START
Ryan Tannehill (QB) – Yahoo Fantasy Projection: 16.25 PTS
Tannehill managed a solid performance even if his only touchdowns were scored in the last five minutes against the Rams. Tannehill put together one of his gutsiest fourth quarterback comebacks of his young career and seems to be growing under the tutelage of Adam Gase. He is also benefitting from having a healthy DeVante Parker and Jay Ajayi keeping defenses honest. Tannehill is set up to have a great outing against a weak San Francisco secondary.
Jarvis Landry (WR) – Yahoo Fantasy Projection: 11.54 PTS
Landry finally ended his touchdown drought with a healthy hand from his offensive line in Los Angeles. The emergence of DeVante Parker as a legit down field deep threat should pull attention from Landry leaving plenty of lanes for him to juke and jump through this week.
Jay Ajayi (RB) – Yahoo Fantasy Projection: 20.05 PTS
Ajayi was stuffed all day in Los Angeles due mostly to the poor weather conditions and the lack of a starting offensive line to open holes. The matchup gets beautiful for Ajayi this week with the league’s worst rushing defense coming to town. I believe you can expect some gaudy numbers from the J-Train this Sunday, maybe even another 200-yard performance.
Devante Parker – Yahoo Fantasy Projections: 10.90 PTS
Are the past two weeks a true example of what Parker looks like when he is healthy? I sure hope so because he has almost indefensible streaking down the field in southern California. Parker has 13 catches for 182 yards and a touchdown the past two weeks. His emergence as a deep field safety blanket for Tannehill is very encouraging and has a high probability of producing against the Niners as well.
Dolphins Defense/Special Teams – Yahoo Fantasy Projection: 7.97 PTS
Well, Culliver is gone, but the emergence of Tony Lippett as a dependable cover corner has been great to see. The defensive line is becoming an imposing force on quarterbacks and running backs alike, which is leading to the five turnovers the Dolphins have created in the past two games. Carlos Hyde is a talented running back, but with no real help in the passing game it should be easy for the Fins defense to shut him down as well.
SIT
Kenny Stills (WR) – Yahoo Fantasy Projection: 5.87 PTS
The more consistent threat that Parker becomes the less likely it is of seeing Stills re-signing with Miami this offseason. Stills has been battling injury the past couple weeks and his lack of production is showing that. The fact that Stills was targeted nine times and only brought in four catches for 33 yards is another cause for concern. He always has a big play factor, but if Parker keeps rolling Stills will be the one that suffers from it the most.
