Michigan State’s Connor Heyward gets wish to team up with brother for Steelers

+

As Connor Heyward went through the pre-draft process, he continually felt interest from the Steelers. However, actually getting selected by Pittsburgh was a little too much for the Michigan State fifth-year senior tight end to envision because that would mean becoming teammates with his older brother, All-Pro defensive lineman Cameron Heyward. Then it became reality. No, I never teased myself one bit," Heyward said on Saturday. "I wanted to see it happen, and if it didn’t happen, I wasn’t going to put that in my head. So now that it did happen, I’m glad it did." It was 11 years ago when Heyward, age 12, was in the room with Cameron as he was drafted by the Steelers in the first round. The two were together again in Georgia on Saturday as Heyward’s name came off the board. The city is part of the family because his parents, Charlotte and Craig, met at the University of Pittsburgh. Craig "Ironhead" Heyward was a star rusher for the Panthers that went on to play 11 seasons in the NFL before dying of brain cancer in 2006 at age 39.

Chris Grier jokes about Dolphins' plans for first round

+

The Miami Dolphins made a ton of moves this offseason to improve a roster that wasn’t good enough to make the postseason in 2021. They added a number of players in free agency, but when they traded for wide receiver Tyreek Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs, it cost them their first, second and fourth-round pick this year as well as a fourth and sixth in 2023. This means the Dolphins likely won’t have much going on for the first night of the three-day draft.

A belated happy birthday to James!

Hard to believe someone could drink that much and stay competitive in an elite sport. Hopefully they at least tried to get him help.
