Well, that was quite ugly on many fronts. There are multiple reasons that our Miami Dolphins dropped this week's game to the Philadelphia Eagles. Yes, the refs in that game should be ashamed of their work. The NFL should be embarrassed by the display of WTF ever that was that we saw Sunday night and need to find a way to immediately address the obvious issues with officiating league-wide this season. While I don’t believe that you can hang a loss on how a game is called it does matter when most games at the NFL level are decided by no more than 3 to 5 plays. Even still, you have to overcome those things because they will unfortunately happen, even in the best-officiated games.
The other glaring issue was all the key injuries to players affecting both sides of the ball. The OL was not great but half the line was on the sidelines or the locker room. The secondary was already banged up coming in and only took a bigger hit. The loss of Long, who was playing really well hurt as did the loss of Waddle for a period of the game. The offense is just flat-out better when you have to account for Waddle and HIll at the same time. But, once again, you have to be able to overcome these issues. Every team in the NFL has a varied level of injuries at this point in the season. If our depth is not there at these points in the season it's on our front office/coaching staff.
Last, but most important is the fact that the Dolphins just did not look like they were in sync at times and just did not play well for the entirety of the game. There were far too many sloppy plays by Miami and you just can not have those against a top team in the NFL. If you don’t bring your A-game when you play a top 5 team you will lose almost every time. This team is still growing and much of the defense is still learning Vic’s defense but they need to work harder on being more consistent on every single down no matter the situation or the opponent.
Okay, that’s enough of my rant! Thankfully my Texas Rangers gave me something to smile about...for now...
Below we will take a look at some of your predictions and see who “hit” or came close with their predictions for the Miami Dolphins last game-
