REPORT: Emmanuel Ogbah will attend Miami Dolphins mandatory mini-camp; will Xavien Howard show?

Tomorrow starts the beginning of the Miami Dolphins mandatory three-day minicamp, and lots of speculation surrounds whether or not the team’s No. 1 cornerback, Xavien Howard, will show up to camp. Reports suggest the cornerback wants a new deal—and who could blame him—he’s one of the best corners in football.

We will have to wait until tomorrow to find out Howard’s intentions, though Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald is reporting an ‘associate’ believes Howard will show up to camp.

One player who will be attending tomorrow’s mandatory mini-camp is Dolphins defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah.

Per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah — who has been training on his own in recent weeks while many of his teammates worked together at team headquarters — will attend the Dolphins’ mandatory minicamp that runs Tuesday through Thursday this week, agent Drew Rosenhaus said on his weekly segment on WSVN-Fox 7.

“We would like to get an extension done,” Rosenhaus said. “We’ve approached the Dolphins about that. That’s as much as I can say.”

Ogbah, 27, is looking for a long-term deal with the team after having one of the most productive seasons of his career. In 2020, the former second-round pick out of Oklahoma State recorded 43 total tackles with the Miami Dolphins. Most impressive, however, was his career-high nine sacks.

The question isn’t whether or not Emmanuel Ogbah deserves a new contract. It’s whether or not the Dolphins have the resources and ability to grant him a new deal—after locking up Jerome Baker—with so many other players waiting patiently for their next payday.

Chris Grier and Brian Flores have some important decisions to make.

Does Emmanuel Ogbah deserve a new contract with the Miami Dolphins? How much would you be willing to give Xavien Howard to make him happy? Would you like to see him locked up long-term? If not, who would fill the void left behind by Ogbah in 2022 and beyond? Let us know in the comments section below!
