With all the questions that surrounded Tua Tagovailoa this off-season as to if he was the Miami Dolphins “guy”, that was pretty much answered by how the Dolphins handled both the free agency period and the draft. Despite the head coach and the front office being adamant about who was the future at quarterback, it did not stop the fans or the media from openly wondering and continually questioning both. Now the only question left to be answered is what will Tua become? Will he become the savior in the form of a great quarterback that we have all waited so long for since the great Dan Marino stepped down? Will the Dolphins give him more than just this season to prove he's the guy or if he has another season where he struggles at times in a glaring fashion as he did last season will that be it for him? Will, they then seek to move on and draft his replacement or will they give him one more year after this one to prove something since most have written off last season as coming off a very serious injury? Will his possible lack of progression then even possibly cost Brian Flores his job? Are their fates intertwined with this franchise or does Grier take the hit and Flores survive if Tua fails? Or if all goes to crap does ownership kick everyone to the curb and start this whole damn process over again?
So tonight’s question is not really if you think they will succeed or not as most believe they will, but more what happens if not? In this NFL world today it seems as anything can happen in a second and a franchise that seems at the top of their class can be upended by one player failing or deciding that they wish to leave or ending their career due to injury or legal issues or whatever. Do any of us think the Texans or the Packers would be frantic about their quarterback situation or possible situation at this point this year a year ago? There is even talk that Seattle will need to find a new guy after this year which just seems crazy. Things have changed and they are not like they used to be. Quarterbacks and players, in general, are not given much time to prove that they have it before being cut and others might lose their starter now that players can wield more power than ever given their salaries and demand to be released and traded with most getting their wish. What’s the point of holding onto someone that refuses to play for you? We have seen this in the past but never at this level. This sure is not our father's NFL and I am not sure if it's for the better or worse or a mix of both!
As this is a nightly post (when there is not a live game thread) also feel free to not only discuss the question/topic of the day but to use this as a live thread where the rules are pretty wide open, and you can discuss nearly anything so long as your continue to follow the site rules. Speaking of site rules the three rules that come with a zero-tolerance policy are that we do not allow ANY personal attacks against your fellow ‘Phins fan or even a troll from another site. Flag it and walk away, do not get yourself banned over another’s stupidity. Beyond that, there is no discussion or even references to anything remotely religious or political. There are plenty of sites for those discussions elsewhere but this is not and never will be one of them.
