Ever since Brian Flores’ arrival in South Florida, it seems as though the Miami Dolphins are making roster moves to better their football team in every way possible.
Today, the Dolphins did just that when they claimed yet another a promising rookie cornerback off waivers.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Miami Dolphins have claimed Syracuse defensive back Trill Williams off waivers from the New Orleans Saints.

The 21-year old defensive back agreed to terms with the Saints after the 2021 NFL draft. However, the only problem is that he would have to pass a physical, and although I don’t know the full details, he was unable to pass medically.
So, the New Orleans Saints cut ties with the young cornerback, which left the door open for a team to take a chance on Williams—-likely stashing him on the roster to develop and bring along slowly.
I wonder what team loves defensive backs, more specifically, developing young defensive backs?!
Brian Flores, Josh Boyer, and Gerald Alexander, that’s who!

During his three seasons at Syracuse, Williams appeared in 23 games with the Orange. He recorded 92 tackles (64 solo), 3.5 tackles for loss, 4 interceptions, 1 forced fumble, and two touchdowns. His 2020 season was cut short after Williams tore a ligament in his ankle. It would eventually require surgery, forcing him to miss the remainder of the season. (I don’t know if this is the reason for the failed physical)
Fans shouldn’t get too excited about the Williams signing, but if any team can develop and get the most out of a youngdefensive back, I trust it’s the Miami Dolphins and this coaching staff.
Thoughts on the Dolphins claiming Trill Williams? Do you think he makes the roster? How many more defensive backs will Miami sign this offseason? Let us know in the comments section below.
