Phinsider Question Of The Day 05/15/2021

As some of you have probably noticed and some of you may have even celebrated, I have been away from the site for the past week dealing with a couple of different family emergencies. One is fine and one is ongoing but life must go on and eventually I have to get back to what it is I do, if for no other reason than my own sanity, so here I am but there may come a point again where I will have to be away for a bit.

Anyway, with that out of the way, and I go into this post not knowing if this has been covered anywhere by anyone on the Phinsider, so if it has I apologize. The one thing that I have seen pop up from various fans of the Miami Dolphins in various places is that the fact that Aaron Rodgers is on the outs with the Green Bay Packers so the Dolphins should give them everything short of our stadium to get him to Miami.

I know what everyone here knows, that every time a top quarterback either comes free or has an issue with their current club that many within the fanbase believe the Dolphins must do everything humanly possible to acquire that player right now, and when we don’t they are pissed or even claim to be done with the Dolphins. Of course, these fans have overlooked the fact that Miami may not have even been on that player's list of places to play or the team that he went to gave up and or paid so much for his services that it’s somewhere beyond stupid.

In the Rodgers situation, at least at this point, I see zero chance that the Green Bay Packers are going to be willing to part ways with him. If they do I would suspect that they would start out asking a king's ransom. If they do agree to move on from him due to not being able to come to any agreeable terms with him I also suspect that at some point he might be able to possibly, and this is a remote chance, ask for and get his release ala, JJ Watt, in Houston. It’s just so hard to see anyone willing to give up that much talent and get zilch in return.

At that point, whichever way Green Bay decides to allow him to move on I think the Dolphins would at the very least have to have the discussion about acquiring him and or talking to him about coming to Miami for a few years, even if they continued to hold onto Tua. Who better to learn the game from? But that also takes two to dance. Would Rodgers want to come to Miami? Would he see it as his best chance to win? Would he only come to Miami if they traded away Tua because he does not wish to face competition or would he be okay being a mentor until he decides to retire in a few years? Would Tua want to stay with a team that he has no chance to start within the immediate to near future? Or are you one that’s on the Tua or bust train? I personally am on the trust Flores train and I might wind up riding that train over the cliff but until that point, I am not going to jump.

As this is a nightly post (when there is not a live game thread) also feel free to not only discuss the question/topic of the day but to use this as a live thread where the rules are pretty wide open, and you can discuss nearly anything so long as your continue to follow the site rules. Speaking of site rules the three rules that come with a zero-tolerance policy are that we do not allow ANY personal attacks against your fellow ‘Phins fan or even a troll from another site. Flag it and walk away, do not get yourself banned over another’s stupidity. Beyond that, there is no discussion or even references to anything remotely religious or political. There are plenty of sites for those discussions elsewhere but this is not and never will be one of them.
