2021 NFL Draft: Nogle’s Miami Dolphins Big Board

The NFL Draft is almost here (I know, I keep writing that, but it is a true statement). As we all debate who the Miami Dolphins should select with their two first-round picks (6th and 18th), I thought it was time to bring you my “big board” of the prospects. This is my personal ranking of 100 prospects, with a mix of best-player available and need.

This is a horizontal big board. I ranked the positions based on how I see the Dolphins’ needs. Then, I ranked the players based on how I would select them. Starting at the top left, work left-to-right, then line-by-line to see how I would select players for the Dolphins. As you can see, while I have tight end low on my needs, but I have Kyle Pitts as my top ranked player. He is the only player on the top line, so moving to line two, we run into Ja’Marr Chase as my second ranked prospect. Line three has both Jaylen Waddle and Penei Sewell listed, so Waddle gets the nod ahead of Sewell based on need (furthest left).

Finally, yes, the quarterbacks are lower than they should be based simply on prospect ranking. But, I do not see any way Miami is selecting a quarterback early in this Draft, so I pushed them down. There is a point where, if Trevor Lawrence falls, you have to select him, but (a) that is not going to happen and (b) the other positions need more consideration than a quarterback in this big board.

Now, check it out and feel free to tell me who I forgot, who is too high, and who is too low.

(Note: If you are checking this out on a mobile or smaller-screened device, the table below may change formats, causing you to lose the horizontal aspect of it. Underneath the table, I have added a picture so you can check it out. It might not be as great resolution, but it is there.)
