Now that free agency has been in full swing for over a week we know where most of the top talent or talent period is going to sign. Miami has not gone on the spending spree of some past years but has added players, resigned some of their own players, and lost some players to other teams while also pulling off a couple of trades. Fan-favorite Ryan Fitzpatrick has now moved on to his ninth team, The Washington Football Team, and the team signed in his place Jacoby Brissett to a one-year deal. Center Ted Karras returned to the Patriots after not resigning with the Dolphins joining linebacker Kyle Van Noy who also returned to the Pats after his surprising release by the Phins. Also joining the Patriots was defensive tackle Davon Godchaux on a two-year deal. Linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill left town to join the Texans and punter Matt Haack signed with the Bills after the Dolphins replaced him with Michael Palardy on a one-year deal.
Miami also traded a seventh-round pick in this year's draft for a seventh in the 2022 draft for tackle Isaiah Wilson who was the property of the Dolphins all of three days before being cut for being Isaiah. The Dolphins sent linebacker Shaq Lawson to the Texans in a trade for linebacker Benardrick McKinney (no relation that I am aware of). Miami’s list of free-agent signings includes tight end/fullback, Cethan Carter, running back Malcolm Brown, cornerback Justin Coleman, defensive tackle Adam Butler, Wideout Robert Foster, wide receiver Will Fuller, outside linebacker Brennan Scarlett, wideout Kai Locksley, and linebacker Duke Riley.
Then there is the list of Miami’s own players who were either resigned or tendered as restricted free agents. Guard Adam Pankey resigned, linebacker Calvin Munson was tendered, cornerback Nik Needham was tendered, cornerback Jomal Wiltz was tendered, linebacker Vince Biegel resigned with the team for one year, kicker Jason Sanders was signed to an extension, linebacker Elandon Roberts resigned with the team, and wideout Mack Hollins also resigned with the team.
So as with every year and every free agency period the team signs, resigns, extends, and or trades for this or that player. But with the nature of football and just the assumption that you are getting something in a certain player that you may or may not get with any deal being just that, an assumption, a guess, some signings are hits and some are misses. Some are huge hits and others can be colossal misses depending on how invested you are in any given player. So tonight’s Phinsider Question Of The Day is with free agency well underway and the draft growing ever closer which of the moves that the Dolphins made do you think will be a hit and which will be a miss? Is there a player that we let get away that will come back to haunt us or is there a player that we should have let go and the decision to instead keep the player will be the move that really haunts us in the long run?
Give us your thoughts below-
As this is a nightly post (when there is not a live game thread) also feel free to not only discuss the question/topic of the day but to use this as a live thread where the rules are pretty wide open, and you can discuss nearly anything so long as your continue to follow the site rules. Speaking of site rules the three rules that come with a zero-tolerance policy are that we do not allow ANY personal attacks against your fellow ‘Phins fan or even a troll from another site. Flag it and walk away, do not get yourself banned over another’s stupidity. Beyond that, there is no discussion or even references to anything remotely religious or political. There are plenty of sites for those discussions elsewhere but this is not and never will be one of them.
