Surprise, surprise!

In a move that will surprise no one, the Miami Dolphins met with former New England Patriots defensive tackle Lawrence Guy yesterday afternoon, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

The former 2011 7th-round draft pick (233rd overall) joined the New England Patriots in 2017, where he quickly became a valuable part of Bill Belichick’s defense. He also apparently caught the eye of a certain linebacker coach in the process.

Over his 10-year-NFL career, Guy has combined for 303 total tackles, 13.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and an interception. But as Yates alluded to above, no statistic could truly explain how much of an impact Guy had on New England’s front four.

Here’s only one example of what Lawrence Guy is capable of.

There is no question as to whether or not Lawrence Guy would fit in Miami. The truth is, he would fit like a glove. However, the question now is whether the two sides can agree on a deal that will keep the 300-pound defensive lineman in Miami. Or is Guy only doing what so many others have done before, and that is to use Miami for leverage in contract negotiations.

No one truly knows.

But what we do know is that Chris Grier and Brian Flores have done a solid job this offseason acquiring depth and potential upgrades at key areas of need. Adding a veteran like Lawrence Guy would allow the team to focus on other needs in next month’s NFL draft. But best of all, Flores would be adding a 31-year-old mauler to Miami’s front-four. A player that has had success with the Dolphins’ HC in the past.

Should the Dolphins sign Lawrence Guy?!

If the money is right, the answer could not be more clear. (In my opinion, of course)
