2021 QB draft class vs 2020

One year ago i made a QB study about the 2020's QB class ...The results were surprising and were validated by the NFL season. That does not mean that things could (and probably will) change but the results made me happy.

Now Ive applied the same formula (based on every play of 5 games) to the 5 QBs that should go in the first round in the next April's draft. Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields , Zach Wilson, Mac Jones and Trey Lance. I've to say that the results are more difficult to decipher for many things A) it's hard to keep the same meter of judgement at one year of distance B) this season was strange and at least one player played just one game C) Two of them played with very weaker opponents than the other 3 (but of course the cast around them was worse too ) .So this year my considerations about them at the end are more important.

Lets see the results of both classes mixed

1) Joe Burrow 9.30

2) Justin Herbert 8,85

3) Zach Wilson 8,41

4) Trey Lance 7.90

5) Mac Jones 7.85

3) Jordan Love 7.80

4) Tua Taigovaloa 7.50

5) Trevor Lawrence 7.20

6) Justin Fields 6.85

Very Bad Throws ... how many bad throws each of them made in 5 games

Wilson 3, Lance 4, Herbert 5 , Jones 6, Fields 11, Burrow 11 ,Lawrence 12 ,Tua 16 ,Love 20

Zach Wilson. Is a very difficult QB to judge, his precision is totally awesome and he lead the offense very well. But there are some doubts (if not clear issues) that were evident to me . He really looks like a "super college QB" and is really really difficult to project how he will perform in the NFL, more than anyone else (at least for me) . He throw a lot of short passes but when called to make things more difficult it's not that he falter. He is very ugly to watch and he look more smallish than his true (?) measures. My gut say that he already reach his ceiling but if he transfer that in the NFL would be awesome (i strongly doubt that ).

Trey Lance. Too bad he barely played this season, he have so much potential. His arm is really great and his past as running backs shows (even used too much) . Also his progression game by game was really noteworthy. Sturdy and physically gifted he can easily stand punishment but that would be nothing without the great passes he is able to sling. His ceiling is really in the sky but also there is not a sure floor to stand . Also he is a great kid .

Mac Jones. It's incredible how he progressed from the first games to the latest one. HE always had a great deep throw (even because great receivers) but at the end he had great intermediate passes. An excellent leader that move quite well in the pocket. Also he have a very good arm , not weak at all. If he progress like he did in the last year he will be an excellent pro. There is nothing to not like in his last games .

Trevor Lawrence. His status was acquired in the previous years , this last year was surely not awesome. Having said that i am still surprised to have him so relatively low graded. He looks to me as a QB of the 80's ... Not modern at all . His ball is not awesome and he throw A LOT of check outs, screens . I miss the powerful intermediate passes . His long ball also is surely not the best of the class. Can be the schemes , can be that the team this year was not that good but i see him like a niece piece of wood that will never get better. Let's see if he will get back his magic in the NFL.

Justin Fields. Sometimes he looks like a little Mahomes but more often he is a system guy that takes TOO MANY hits. He have the arm but there is something "inconsistent" in his play and he makes dumb plays too. I see him as a good 2nd rounder ... But i didnt expect much by Mahomes too , so ...
