Dolphinfan4lyfe's 7 round mock draft with trades.

I know what you are thinking. Oh boy another mock draft. For me these are fun. I know Miami has several team needs, and I know the selections I chose are not premiere. But this season seems like it is a chance to stock the cupboard and fill positions of need with serviceable if not dependable options in hopes that we can at the very least be competitive and in a better spot for next year. That being said, I wont talk peoples heads off, yet get straight into my mock. I used Fanspeak premium and this is how it worked out.

Rd 1 pick 13: Trade down with New England, receive their 32nd overall, as well as their 24th and 32nd pick in the Second round.

Rd 1 pick 32: Dexter Lawrence NT/DL.

Shift in scheme and availability are what makes this pick a necessity. No real size on our roster yet, and the last time we had a 305 lb Nose Tackle, we poached him off the Texans roster, and we saw how well that went. Lawrence is Soliai 2.0, an underrated player who had motor issues that made him fall, but could be a steal in the right system.

Rd 2 pick 16: Jachai Polite DE/OLB

At 256 lbs, I look for him to transition from DE to OLB nicely, can also be used in packages that require him to play DE in 4 man front. Strictly a Pass Rusher and the fit is actually quite nice seeing as his only knock is that he lacks arm length and thus the ability to move around makes for a potential nightmare for Defenses.

Round 2 pick 24: trade down with Pittsburgh

What we received: Rd 3 pick 19, Rd 4 pick 20, Rd 6 pick 19, Rd 6 pick 34, future rds 3 and 4 pick.

Dont know why they gave up this much, but they did, and we happily let them have it, and we still have the 32nd pick in rd 2. Speaking of which.

Rd 2 pick 32: Michael Jordan OG

First two picks helped the Defense, and Jordan is a nice pick at OG. Basically, we would not be able to ask him to pull, but as a Mauler he would compliment our LT of the future Laremy Tunsil nicely and clear a pocket on the Left side of the line.

Rd 3 pick 14: Elgton Jenkins C

Carrying on the tradition of wide bodied blockers, here we have yet another potential starter in the making who can take a year to work on his game as he also has the ability to serve in a pinch.

Rd 3 pick 19: Will Grier QB

This one is a pick that needs no explanation. He was there, we need a QB of the future, or at least a comparable starter that can serve in a pinch if anything happens to Fitzmagic.

Rd 4 pick 14 Trevon Coney LB

I like his ability in coverage if nothing else. Can fit as a 3-4 MLB or a 4-3 OLB when we shift schemes.

Rd 4 pick 20: Iman Marshall CB

Last couple years has been a bit of an issue for him injury wise, thus the fall, but if he can be cured of the injury bug, could be a solid #2 opposite Xavien Howard.

Rd 5 pick 13: David Sills V WR

Minus Devante Parker, there is really only one other person with size on our roster at WR and that is 6'2" Isaiah Ford. Plus if you are going to go for Grier earlier on, might as well bring in a guy he already has history throwing to.

Trade: Miami gets pick in round 5 Selection 18, Miami gives up a future 4th rounder.

Rd 5 pick 18: Martez Ivey OT

May never be a starter, but should add much needed depth, and for one year can start at RT if need be.

Rd 6 pick 19 Corbin Kaufusi Edge rusher

At 286 lbs, more of a 3-4 end than anything else. But scouts are low on him and think he lacks a position. Strength is an issue, but his numbers last year dont lie.

Rd 6 pick 34: Garrett Brumfield OG

At this point simply a matter of adding depth, and finding some later in this years draft will keep us from having to draft some next year.

Rd 7 pick 19: Trace McSorely QB

This is more about pushing Will Grier than it is about finding a QB of the future with this selection, however could be a decent developmental QB to buy low and sell high later on if we address the starting position next season.

Rd 7 pick 20: Jesse Burkett C

Like the previous two, this is all about depth right now. Best value for buck means may not need to draft Oline next year.

And that is it guys. Let me know what you think in the comments. Would you be upset with a draft like this? What would you do differently?
