The Miami Dolphins 2019 NFL Mock Draft Database is back with the first edition for this offseason. Each year, we slowly build up our database with more and more mock drafts from around the internet to get an idea of what people think the Dolphins will do when they are on the clock. This year, we start with 30 mock drafts, and, as you could probably guess, most of them seem to have the Dolphins looking quarterback.

Below, you will find a list of the mock drafts, in order from the most recently published back to the oldest projection in the database. I have included any explanations that were in the publications. At the end of the list are graphs to show the summary of the picks projected, with the first graph showing a breakdown by player, then the second breaking down the picks by position only.

What do you think of the Dolphins’ mock draft database? Are the projections on the right path or do you think the Dolphins look elsewhere in April?

On to the picks:

The Phinsider (Josh Houtz) - 2/11/19 (via FanSpeak On The Clock)

Pick: Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

SB Nation (Dan Kadar) - 2/11/19

Pick: Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

Explanation: If the Dolphins really fall in love with Haskins or Lock, they should pursue a move up. Unfortunately, getting from No. 13 to inside the top five would at least require this year’s first- and second-round picks and a first-round pick in 2020. Instead of giving up that many picks, the Dolphins could hold at 13 and take Murray, the fan favorite Heisman Trophy winner.

NJ.com (Joe Giglio) - 2/11/19

Pick: Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

Explanation: New coach, new look, new future. The Dolphins have waited too long for a star quarterback. Murray has a chance to develop into that.

Sporting News (Vinnie Iyer) - 2/11/19

Pick: Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

Explanation: As the Dolphins reboot their offense without Adam Gase and lean more toward moving on from Ryan Tannehill, they need more “it” factor and special leadership qualities at the position. Murray certainly has that with Heisman-winning passing and running. He lacks ideal size and isn’t the pocket prototype, but his electric playmaking is attractive enough for him to be drafted earlier than some expect.

CBS Sports (Ryan Wilson) - 2/10/19

Pick: Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

Explanation: The Dolphins have yet to officially move on from Ryan Tannehill but general manager Chris Grier said last week that the team may “fall in love” with a quarterback during the pre-draft process. Murray is that guy. There will always be questions about his size but given the way the game has changed over the last five years, it’s reasonable to think he can flourish in the league.

CBS Sports (R.J. White) - 2/10/19

Pick: Trade (Philadelphia Eagles) to 25: Daniel Jones, QB, Duke

Explanation: The Dolphins are a team at the beginning of a rebuild, so if the Eagles call them up and offer a second-rounder to move from 25 to 13, they should be happy to do it and land another potential long-term starter on Day 2. And as a bonus, a guy many feel could be in the mix for them at 13 is still available here. The shine came off Jones’ star a bit at the Senior Bowl, but he should find a way to sneak into Round 1.

Draft Blaster - 2/10/19

Pick: Daniel Jones, QB, Duke

Explanation: Miami will be undergoing some major changes in the offseason, after a previous offseason that just didn’t make any sense. Why did this owner hire and then stick with the previous Jets GM that decimated that franchise with bad move after bad move? The Dolphins could be active in the free agency QB market and taking one early in the draft, and try to stabilize that position moving forward.

Bleacher Report (Joe Tansey) - 2/10/19

Pick: Montez Sweat, Edge, Mississippi State

Bleacher Report (Kristopher Knox) - 2/10/19

Pick: Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

CBS Sports (Chris Trapasso) - 2/8/19

Pick: Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State

Explanation: So, if the Dolphins are cool with not winning 10-plus games in 2018, with the inexperienced but super-talented Haskins they plan for the long-term future at the game’s most important position.

ESPN (Todd McShay) - 2/7/19

Pick: Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

Explanation: Yes, the risk is apparent -- Murray is undersized at 5-foot-10 and still hasn’t decided on his baseball career. But he has an electric arm and some of the best athleticism I’ve seen at the position in years. New offensive coordinator Chad O’Shea would have a real talent to develop at quarterback if Miami moves on from the Ryan Tannehill era.

Houston Chronicle (John McClain) - 2/7/19

Pick: Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

Houston Chronicle (Aaron Wilson) - 2/7/19

Pick: Drew Lock, QB, Missouri

Draft Countdown (Scott Wright) - 2/7/19

Pick: Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama

Explanation: This feels like a team without an identity or direction, on either side of the ball. The biggest question facing the Phins is at quarterback and it seems they’ve reached a breaking point with Ryan Tannehill. If they do decide to part ways with Tannehill finding a new signal caller will obviously be the top priority. Otherwise this pick should probably be used to bolster the trenches with the best offensive or defensive lineman available.

Williams isn’t particularly flashy but started every game of his college career for the Crimson Tide, consistently getting the job done at a high level in both the pass and run games. Despite protecting the blindside in college most feel Williams profiles as more of a right tackle of even offensive guard in the NFL. As a result of those positional concerns Williams isn’t as highly thought of in scouting circles as many believe and could slide further than expected on Draft Day. While Williams may not be a left tackle in the pros he is going to be a ten-year starter somewhere for someone.

Walter Football - 2/7/19

Pick: Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

Explanation: NFL teams all soured on Russell Wilson leading up to the 2012 NFL Draft despite the fact that Wilson had more experience and was more accomplished than Kyler Murray over a longer span. While Wilson didn’t win the Heisman, he probably would have if he played in the Big XII. Instead, Wilson thrived in two conferences where teams actually play some sort of defense. Despite this, Wilson fell to the third round. Now, just because Wilson has been an exception rather than the rule, Murray is somehow expected to be chosen in the opening round even though he’s two inches shorter and 20 pounds lighter than Wilson!

None of this makes any sense, especially when factoring in Murray’s lack of starting experience, his extremely easy schedule this past season against all of the woeful Big XII defenses, his struggles against Alabama prior to garbage time, and the fact that teams may not be convinced that he’s going to dedicate himself to football with baseball being a possibility. All of these things are strikes against Murray, which was relayed to me by an NFC personnel man I spoke to on Friday afternoon. I asked him about Murray, and while he expressed concern about his size, it was his dedication to football that was the major concern.

”Murray should probably go on Day 2, but will probably go in the first round because he’s a hot name,” the personnel man said. “We assumed he was going into baseball because of Scott Boras, so no one wrote up any reports on him.”

I then thought about it. Who could take Murray in the first round? Well, there’s no dumber owner of a bad team in the NFL than Stephen Ross. I’m sure he’s smart in real life, but when it comes to managing his football team, Ross has made countless blunders. Ross also loves hype. He constantly invites celebrities no one cares about to games to try to draw a crowd. This would be another instance of Ross trying to draw attention to the Dolphins. He may demand for his next regime to draft Murray because he thinks a 5-foot-9, 190-pound quarterback, who thrived in a conference where zero defense is played, won’t get half of his passes batted at the line of scrimmage somehow.

CBS Sports (Will Brinson) - 2/6/19

Pick: Ed Oliver, Jr., DT, Houston

Explanation: Ed Oliver, DT, Houston: The Dolphins just hired a bright defensive mind in Brian Flores to oversee a full-blown rebuild and it could start with adding a high-upside guy to put on the defensive line.

DraftTek - 2/6/19

Pick: Montez Sweat, Edge, Mississippi State

Explanation: Montez Sweat has been getting more and more recognition as April 25 approaches. Sweat is coming off a fantastic Senior Bowl week where fans, coaches, and scouts were all witness to his domination. His blend of speed and power are difficult to overlook when watching tape of him play. The best thing about it is Sweat’s measurables - he’s already 6’6” and 252 pounds, and he is nowhere near peaking in the weight department.

His extremely long arms allow for him to create separation, keep offensive linemen’s hands off of him, and also gives him leverage when he rips or swims opposing tackles. Sweat is a very versatile player that can play in 4-3 or 3-4 schemes as either a defensive end or an outside linebacker. H could have joined the 2018 draft class after a strong junior year, but he decided to return to Mississippi State for his final season. Throughout his career there, he totaled 22 sacks and 29.5 tackles for a loss to go along with 101 total tackles. Sweat will be a perfect fit for the Dolphins, as they are in need of depth at defensive end and outside linebacker.

NFL.com (Chad Reuter) - 2/5/19

Pick: Daniel Jones, QB, Duke

Explanation: The Dolphins will probably look to move on from Ryan Tannehill. Jones received a first-round grade from the NFL College Advisory Committee.

NFL Draft Geek (Brian Johannes) - 2/5/19

Pick: Clelin Ferrell, DE, Clemson

Rotoworld (Thor Nystrom) - 2/5/19

Pick: Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

Explanation: Does this make sense? No, of course not. But some organization is going to take the plunge on Kyler in the top-20. And if you’re looking around the NFL table for a sucker, your eyes don’t have to scan long to find Miami’s place at the table. This pick would have the short-term benefit of “re-invigorating the base” while having the potential downside of “zero to show for 1.13 in three years.” Sounds like the kind of proposition Miami would sign up for.

Baltimore Sun (Jonas Shaffer) - 2/5/19

Pick: Brian Burns, Edge, Florida State

Explanation: The Dolphins need a quarterback. Boy, do they need a quarterback. But with the draft’s top passers already off the board and team officials unlikely to risk the first pick of Brian Flores’ tenure on Kyler Murray, another pass rusher should become a priority. Miami finished fourth to last in the NFL last season in sacks, and Cameron Wake is set to become an unrestricted free agent. Burns developed into a stellar pass rusher at Florida State, but he’ll need to add more strength to his 227-pound frame.

USA Today (Michael Middelhurst-Schwartz) - 2/5/10)

Pick: Rashan Gary, DE, Michigan

Explanation: Though Miami is one of several teams who could be pondering a quarterback in the early rounds, general manager Chris Grier might opt against pushing all his chips in on a passer this early in his tenure. With the potential to play either inside or outside, Gary sizes up as intriguing option for a defensive line that has gotten little production outside of Cameron Wake, who turned 37 and isn’t signed for 2019.

San Diego Union-Tribune (Eddie Brown) - 2/4/19

Pick: Dexter Lawrence, DT, Clemson

Explanation: This is another team I expect to find a QB via trade or free agency. The loss of Ndamukong Suh has created a void in the middle of the Dolphins defense. Lawrence is a traditional run-stuffer who possesses an elite combination of size (6-3, 340), power and athleticism. His draft stock is stuck in neutral until we find out how teams will judge a PED suspension that forced him to miss the College Football Playoffs. This is likely his ceiling though.

Draft Network (Joe Marino) - 2/4/19

Pick: Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama

Explanation: The Dolphins are headed towards a total rebuild and that’s exactly what needs to happen. Stuck in perpetual mediocrity, Miami must build a new nucleus and establish a new course. Doing so with a young quarterback would be ideal but Miami is in no-man’s land picking at No. 13 when it comes to quarterback options and I wouldn’t be so eager to trade up in this year’s class.

Among the reasons Ryan Tannehill never panned out for Miami was the Dolphins’ inability to fortify the starting offensive line in front of him. A three-year starter for Alabama, Williams can step in at tackle or guard and become a much-needed building block up front and help solidify things for whenever the next franchise quarterback is identified.

NFL Draft Scout (Rob Rang) - 2/3/19

Pick: Daniel Jones, QB, Duke

Explanation: Ryan Tannehill is a functional starting quarterback but he’s shown little to suggest he can guide a team to a championship. Jones does not possess the same exciting traits which led to Tannehill earning the eighth overall pick back in 2012 but he is a very savvy passer well prepared for the NFL after working with renowned QB guru David Caldwell.

NFL.com (Lance Zierlein) - 1/29/19

Pick: Greedy Williams, CB, LSU

Explanation: If the Dolphins don’t see a QB to their liking available when they’re on the clock, they could add a long, press-man cornerback here and look for a young QB next year.

NFL.com (Bucky Brooks) - 1/25/19

Pick: Jaylon Ferguson, Edge, Louisiana Tech

Explanation: The FBS all-time sack leader (45) would fit nicely as a productive pass rusher with a variety of moves at his disposal.

NFL.com (Daniel Jeremiah) - 1/23/19

Pick: Daniel Jones, QB, Duke

Explanation: The Dolphins have a bunch of needs to fill and could go in myriad directions. However, finding the quarterback of the future is right at the top of the list.

ESPN (Mel Kiper) - 1/17/19

Pick: Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

Explanation: The Dolphins need to rebuild. What better way to start that rebuild than to take the Heisman Trophy winner? Now, just because Murray has entered the draft doesn’t mean he’s sticking to football. He could still back out and play baseball. But I’m treating him as if he’s all-in for now, and if he goes to the combine -- he’s going to run a blazing 40-yard dash -- and goes through workouts for teams, I expect him to be picked in Round 1. This is an unprecedented situation for a 5-foot-10 quarterback, but it’s going to be fun to watch over the next few months.

The Phinsider (Clint Clearwater) - 1/15/19

Pick: Jeffery Simmons, DT, Mississippi State
