Things to be thankful for this Phinsgiving....

I'm in a reflective mood today so I thought I'd share some things that I think we should all be thankful for as we get ready to close out 2019.

1. Brian Flores is here. Like many, I wasn't sure when we hired him. No HC experience, etc. But so far, he's proven to be exactly what the Dr. ordered. While we lack talent, this team plays with discipline. Keep doing what you're doing coach. Can't wait to see what you can do with a better roster.

2. Gase is gone. What a difference that has made. And he landed with the Jets. Just when I think the Dolphins have fallen out favor with the Lord, He gives us a nugget of hope and love.

3. Growth in young players. Maybe you guys can think of one but I can't think of a young player on our roster that hasn't gotten better. None of these guys have "arrived" yet...not saying that. But I don't see any regression in our roster either. Haven't been able to say that in a long time.

4. Offseason capital. This is why we aren't the Browns. Most teams faced with a rebuild try to do it with the regular amount of draft picks and usually some limitations when it comes to the cap. That's not us. Grier was bold (some have other adjectives to describe him) and blew it up. When you do that, you pay a price and the 2019 season has been a heavy price to pay. Likely will have so more pain to endure in early 2020. But by this time next season, with 13 properly executed draft selections and some nice FA acquisitions, we should see a young team finding itself on the rise.

5. Steve Ross, our team owner, isn't an idiot. Now, I realize that some of you will take exception with that statement, and I understand why but hear me out on this. He's made mistakes with who and how he's structured the FO in the past. But he corrected that finally with having a GM in charge of all of it and letting the GM build and lead the organization. This approach, over time, has generally been the most successful. So, we've gotten the "how" right. Only with time will Grier prove to be the right, or wrong, "who". Also, Ross, who is usually pretty quiet and low-key on draft day, was pretty adamant at the time that we should have drafted Lamar Jackson. Lamar is proving him right.

Those are just a few of the things we should be thankful for. Feel free to share others below. And last, but not least, to my fellow Phinsiders who bring joy, insight and fandom to my world everyday, thank you. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
