Julian Edelman facing four-game PED suspension

NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars at New England Patriots Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

New England Patriots wide reciever Julian Edelman is facing a four-game suspension from the NFL for violating the league’s performance enhancing drug policy, according to ESPN’s Field Yates and Adam Schefter. The suspension is currently being appealed.

The Miami Dolphins are set to visit the Patriots in Week 4 of the 2018 season. If there is no change to Edelman’s suspension, New England will be without the wide receiver during that matchup. Miami will host the Patriots in the second-half of the annual home-and-home series in Week 14.

Edelman missed all of the 2017 season with a torn ACL he sustained in the preseason. In 2016, he caught 98 passes last year for 1,106 yards with three touchdowns. He played in all 16 games for just the second time in his career.

The Dolphins signed former Patriots receiver Danny Amendola this offseason, New England currently has Braxton Berrios, Jordan Matthews, Cordarrelle Patterson, Kenny Britt, Malcolm Mitchell, Chris Hogan, Matthew Slater, Riley McCarron, Cody Hollister, and Phillip Dorsett on the roster along with Edelman.
