The Miami Dolphins have announced they waived offensive tackle Sean Hickey. The Dolphins originally signed Hickey in August, eventually moving him to the practice squad at the end of the preseason. After spending the entire season on the practice squad, Hickey signed a reserve/futures contract with the Dolphins in January.
Hickey entered the league in 2015 as an undrafted free agent, signing with the New Orleans Saints. He also spent time with the New England Patriots, New York Jets, and Minnesota Vikings, but has not appeared in a regular season game in his career.
The Dolphins’ offensive line appears to be the best group of starters they have had in recent years, with Laremy Tunsil and Ja’Wuan James as the starting tackles. They have Sam Young, Eric Smith, Zach Sterup, David Steinmetz, and Joseph Roubbens as depth at the position.
Miami now has an open spot on their 90-man preseason roster.
