Well, here we are again, another Super Bowl, another year that we really suspected, well at least some of us, that our Dolphins would make it a bit further and another year that the damn New England Patriots are AFC representatives in the game. The NFC’s representative this year is the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles previously matched up with the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX in 2005, a game that the Pats won 24 to 21. The 2005 victory marked the third Super Bowl win for the Patriots in four years as well as their second straight. They would not win another Super Bowl until 2014. If they defeat the Eagles this year they will once again have three victories in four years as well as two straight Super Bowl titles.

The Super Bowl will return to Minneapolis Minnesota for the first time since 1992. The 1992 game featured the Washington Redskins and the Buffalo Bills in a game that saw the Redskins take the title by a score of 37 to 24. This years game will serve as Tom Brady’s eighth Super Bowl appearance which is a record for any NFL player. Incidentally, the entire Eagles roster has played in 8 Super Bowls combined. Brady also, already, holds the record for the most Superbowl wins of any quarterback but could also tie Charles Haley as the player with the most Superbowl wins with a victory today.

The Philadelphia Eagles enter this Super Bowl looking for their first Super Bowl victory in franchise history. The Eagles are also the only NFC team with no Super Bowl wins While most pundits have chosen the Patriots as the clear favorite in this game one tidbit that gives the opponents more than a bit of hope is the fact that the Eagles will be the first team that Belichick, in his eight Superbowl appearances will face with both a top-five scoring offense and a top-five scoring defense.
