The Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions have released their inactive players list for this afternoon’s Week 7 matchup. The players not on the list for the Dolphins may be the bigger story for the last 90 minutes before kickoff. The Dolphins will have defensive end Cameron Wake and cornerback Bobby McCain back on the field.
Wake, a Pro Bowl defensive end, will immediately bolster a defensive line that has been struggling with injuries the last few weeks, eating into the depth of the group. Wake’s return will give the team another player able to rotate throughout the game, as well as puts the team’s best pass rusher back opposite Robert Quinn, potentially allowing both of them to get after Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford today.
McCain’s return also bolster’s a struggling unit on defense. Without McCain on the field, opposing quarterbacks have been targeting whichever receiver Xavien Howard is not covering. While Howard is becoming the star of the cornerbacks, McCain is the perfect complimentary player, a solid option who can make plays and keep quarterbacks from being able to feast on the coverage.
Miami will not see the return of wide receiver DeVante Parker, however, as the oft-injured player continues to land on the inactives list. Parker has missed games this year due to a broken finger and due to a quadriceps issue.
Also inactive are Tannehill, safety Maurice Smith, defensive end Jonathan Woodard, tackle Sam Young, tight end A.J. Derby , and defensive end Charles Harris.
The Lions inactives list includes offensive lineman Andrew Donnal, cornerback Lenzy Pipkins. defensive end Ezekiel Ansah, wide receiver Brandon Powell, running back Theo Riddick, defensive end Kerry Hyder, and offensive lineman Joe Dahl.
