Miami Dolphins quarterback Brock Osweiler filled in for an injured Ryan Tannehill on Sunday, beating the Chicago Bears 31-28 in overtime. He threw for 380 yards on 28-for-44 passing (63.6 percent completions) with three touchdowns and two interceptions, giving him a 94.9 passer rating. He is also now nominated for the FedEx Air Player of the Week award.
The FedEx Players of the Week awards are voted upon by the fans, with the winners having a $2,000 donation in their names presented to the USO.
Nominated with Osweiler for the Week 6 Air award are Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, who was 31-for-41 (75.6 percent) for 354 yards with three touchdowns and a 125.5 passer rating, and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was 25-for-46 (54.3 percent) for 425 yards with two touchdowns and a 100.4 passer rating.
Nominees for the Ground Player of the week are Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley (28 carries, 208 yards, 7.4 yards per carry, 2 touchdowns), Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon (18 carries, 132 yards, 7.3 yards per carry, 3 touchdowns), and Minnesota Vikings running back Latavius Murray (24 carries, 155 yards, 6.5 yards per carry, 1 touchdown).
