The Miami Dolphins have been awarded former Cleveland Browns kicker Cody Parkey off waivers, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The fourth-year kicker, who was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2014, has a career 84.6 percent conversation rate on field goals, as well as a 98.8 percent rate on extra points. He spent his first two seasons in the league with the Philadelphia Eagles before moving to the Browns last year.
He missed three field goals last year in an overtime game against the Dolphins, including one at the end of regulation that could have won the game. Miami scored a touchdown in overtime to win the game 30-24.
Interestingly, the Dolphins have Andrew Franks on the roster at kicker. The team did not bring a second kicker into camp this year. Entering his third year, Franks has a 78.4 percent field goal conversion rate, with a 94.9 percent rate on extra points.
Miami was also awarded linebacker Justin March-Lillard, according to a report from Kansas City Star reporter Terez Paylor. The former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker played in five games last year, recording 22 tackles with two passes defensed. He originally signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2015, but spent his rookie year on injured reserve.
Miami also lost at least two players to waiver claims, according to reports. NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo tweeted the New York Jets had claimed wide receiver Damore’ea Stringfellow, while Pelissero indicated that the Jacksonville Jaguars claimed cornerback Lafayette Pitts.
