Miami Dolphins sign eight players to practice squad

NFL: Miami Dolphins-Training Camp Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL will allow teams to start filling out their 10-man practice squad today, adding younger players who will practice with the team throughout the year, but do not count against the 53-man roster limit. We took a look at all of the practice squad rules earlier this morning, Now, we will track the Miami Dolphins’ additions to the practice squad as they come in.

Typically, the players signed to the practice squad are some of the players the team released during the final 53-man roster cuts, bringing back players who are familiar with the club. Occasionally, they will reach out to grab a player from another team.

We will make sure to keep you updated on all the latest here in one spot. The team can start signing players at 1pm ET today. The players will have to have cleared waivers after their team released them yesterday, making them free agents and able to sign with the team - and obviously they will not be getting interest from a team to sign them to a 53-man roster.

The Dolphins have officially announced the signing of eight players to the practice squad:

  • Brandon Doughty, quarterback
  • Thomas Duarte, tight end
  • Sean Hickey, tackle
  • Malcolm Lewis, wide receiver
  • Jordan Lucas, cornerback
  • Cameron Malveaux, defensive end
  • Drew Morgan, wide receiver
  • De’Veon Smith, running back

The team has two more slots the can fill.
