The Dolphins continued their roster cutdown on Saturday with the release of multiple players who could end up on the team’s practice squad.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the team informed former CFL linebacker Deon Lacey that he would be released. Lacey played well throughout the preseason, looking capable in both coverage and run defense. However, the young defender is still raw and could use time to develop, making him a prime candidate to land on Miami’s practice squad should no other team choose to claim him.
Other notable players who will not make the team’s 53 man roster are quarterback Brandon Doughty (per Armando Salguero), defensive back Jordan Lucas (per Adam Beasley), defensive end Praise Martin-Oguike (per Jackson), wide receiver Drew Morgan (per Jackson), and cornerback Lafayette Pitts (per Jackson), all of whom have a good shot at being asked to return to the team via the practice squad.
