The Miami Dolphins were thrown into a lurch on Thursday when quarterback Ryan Tannehill sustained a knee injury, one that could keep him out for the entire 2017 season. As such, the team has shifted to Matt Moore as their starting quarterback, but rumors, speculation, and reports have indicated the team is not content to just see if Moore can carry them this year. Names like Jay Cutler and Colin Kaepernick have been linked to the starter vacancy in Miami, with Armando Salguero reporting that the Dolphins have already reached out to Cutler to gauge interest and contract demands.
Which brings us to a question for you: Who do you want to see as the Dolphins’ quarterback in 2017 (assuming Tannehill is out)?
Moore is a known commodity and has been in head coach Adam Gase’s system for a year now, plus he has a relationship with the receivers already. Cutler spent a year under Gase with the Chicago Bears when Gase was the offensive coordinator and he had a career high passer rating during that season, pushing over 90 for the only time in his career. Kaepernick is probably the best free agent quarterback available, and would bring a different dynamic to the quarterback position that Moore or Cutler.
All three could be options for the Dolphins, and there are reasons any of the three make sense. So, who do you want to see as the Dolphins’ quarterback in 2017 (assuming Ryan Tannehill is out)?
