The Miami Dolphins complete a week in Pennsylvania Thursday night with a contest against the Philadelphia Eagles. The two clubs spent Monday and Tuesday holding joint practices ahead of their meeting in the Preseason Week 3 “dress rehearsal” game. Both teams are expected to play their starters for an extended period on Thursday, potentially into the third quarter.
For the Dolphins, this is also expected to be the 2017 debut of three time Pro Bowl center Mike Pouncey, who has been slowly brought along in practices throughout the summer as the coaching staff looks to make sure his hip issues do not continue to be a problem into this season. The game also marks a return to Philadelphia for several Miami players, headlined by cornerback Byron Maxwell and linebacker Kiko Alonso, both of whom the Dolphins traded to get last year.
The quarterbacks for both teams will likely see lot of coverage throughout the game as the Eagles continue to look for improvement from their second-year signal caller Carson Wentz and the Dolphins continue to work Jay Cutler, who signed during training camp after a season ending injury to Ryan Tannehill, into the offensive system.
