The Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons will face off in the first preseason game for each team this year, a game that typically features little playing time for starters. If they get any time on the field at all, that is. Both the Dolphins and Falcons have released a list of “players not expected to play.”
In other words, starters or injured players who will not be in the game. Think of the list as the “inactive” players list each team must submit before the start of each regular season game.
The Dolphins have listed quarterback Jay Cutler, wide receiver Isaiah Ford, quarterback Ryan Tannehill, wide receiver Malcolm Lewis, running back Jay Ajayi, safety Nate Allen, linebacker Neville Hewitt, center Mike Pouncey, center/guard Ted Larsen, tackle Laremy Tunsil, and tackle Ja’Wuan James as players we will not see tonight. Cutler just joined the team this week and has only practiced once, so his inclusion on the list is not surprising.
The Falcons have listed wide receiver Julio Jones, wide receiver Taylor Gabriel, running back B.J. Daniels, cornerback Akeem King, offensive lineman Kevin Graf, defensive lineman Jack Crawford, and defensive end Martin Ifedi as players who are expected to miss the game.
