90-in-90: Miami Dolphins roster breakdowns, RG Jermon Bushrod

90 Dolphins players in 90 articles. Let’s make sure we know our roster from top to bottom. It’d be a shame if ESPN knows us better.

Adam Gase said that Jermon Bushrod was the 2nd highest rated OL on the Miami Dolphins last year. Pro Football Focus ranked him as the 69th guard out of 73 qualifying players. Needless to say, I was curious to dig into this tape.

To be honest, I went in search of bad tape. I figured, let’s look at the 1st half of the Los Angeles Rams game: 0 points, and a nasty defensive line. How did Bushrod hold up?

Offensive guard is probably the loudest echo of a weakness that we have on offense, so let’s see what we have in this veteran, who has started every single game in the past 7 years (sans 2015).

Game Tape - #74

One of the few opportunities I saw Bushrod 1-on-1 with Aaron Donald, but I didn’t notice any problems on the stunt.

Interesting side note: I put up a poll and of course had an option to signify that I suck, but the response by Joe Daddona was retweeted by Jermon Bushrod himself:

Bushrod would respond to another comment, too:

Why He Might Succeed

He’s a veteran and an Adam Gase favorite.

Why He Might Not

In my opinion, the only way Jermon Bushrod is not starting is because of injury.

Odds of Making Roster

99.9%. He’ll be expected to man the right guard spot and let the competition of Kraig Urbik, Ted Larsen, and Isaac Asiata sort out the left guard spot.
