What Play Would You Draw Up for Adam Gase?

Do you run or pass? Who’s in the game?

Wild Card Round - Miami Dolphins v Pittsburgh Steelers Photo by Rob Carr/Getty Images

Get as elaborate or simple with this exercise as you wish, I’m curious what formations, personnel groupings, and play potential fans of the Miami Dolphins look forward to in the 2017 season.

We’ll line up in the 3 WR, 1 RB, 1 TE a majority of the time, but outside of the “base” offense, there will be plenty of intriguing sub-packages.

  • The 2-TE formations with Anthony Fasano and Julius Thomas will have layers to it that we didn’t have last year, and there were times we lined up three TE in 2016.
  • A 4-WR set with Jarvis Landry, DeVante Parker, Kenny Stills, and Leonte Carroo or Jakeem Grant, and Kenyan Drake at RB.

You understand, this is to just name a few. We have options this year. Which mixture of options have you salivating?

I’ll draw up the context of the play, and you tell me what play you’re calling on game day, and what 5 skill position players you have in the game (assumes 5 OL and 1 QB, and each team is at 100% health). It can be base formation or otherwise, but make sure you list who’s in the play; tell us who’s lined up where, if you like.

After the Tampa Bay Buccaneers shank the opening kickoff out of bounds in the Week 1 tilt, they jump offsides and the Miami Dolphins have the ball at our own 45 yard line with 15:00 remaining in the 1st quarter. Alpha went streaking across the field which caused an interruption in the game - this has allowed the Dolphins players and coaches to confer for an exorbitant amount of time. Alpha was very squirrelly out there, evaded security officials for quite some time.

Wind is calm. Visibility is pristine. It’s 82 degrees with heat index of 90. The sun is minding its own business and not getting into people’s eyes like a jerk.

1st and 5.

You hand it to J-Train? You get Landry involved early? Run play action and throw to Julius Thomas? Bomb it to Parker 1-on-1 with Brent Grimes? Do you get creative early, come out in a sub-package? Maybe Kenyan Drake comes in jet sweep motion? Or we’re 4 wide with no TE? It’s 1st and 5, which allows for more aggressive play calls, but conservative play calls could work just the same.

What play you calling, bruh?
