The Miami Dolphins2017 NFL Draft class is preparing for their first official team event this weekend when they report for their rookie minicamp. Miami’s draft was designed to both fill needs for 2017 and, more importantly, set the team up for success in future seasons. The Dolphins were effective in getting players who can contribute immediately while also positioning them for whenever a veteran player retires or leaves in free agency.

It was an effective, if unspectacular, Draft for the Dolphins. Now, as the team prepares for the rookie minicamp, and, ultimately, Organized Team Activities, veteran minicamp, and training camp, building the depth chart and plugging in the new rookies is an important step in trying to project what the 2017 Miami Dolphins will look like when the training camp begins.

Not included in his depth chart are the rumored undrafted free agency signings for the Dolphins, simply because they have not been made official as of yet. The Dolphins have said they expect to sign 14 UDFAs, and the rumored signings also indicate 14 players: Southern Illinois linebacker Chase Allen, Arizona State punter Matthew Haack, Akron cornerback Larry Hope, Miami wide receiver Malcolm Lewis, Houston defensive end Cameron Malveaux, Temple defensive end Praise Martin-Oguike, UNLV cornerback Torry Mctyer, Arkansas wide receiver Drew Morgan, Stanford wide receiver Francis Owusu, Oklahoma State defensive end Joby Saint Fleur, Michigan running back De'Veon Smith, Virginia tackle Eric Smith, Georgia defensive back Maurice Smith, and Ole Miss wide receiver Damore'ea Stringfellow.
