For the first time in the history of EA Sports’ Madden franchise, teammates will be on the cover of the game two years in a row. After Rob Gronkowski’s appearance on the front of Madden 17, the company announced on Friday that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will appear on the cover of Madden 18.

It marks the first cover appearance for Brady.

Brady, who won his fifth Super Bowl last season, has been selected to 12 Pro Bowls in his 17 year career, along with two First-Team All-Pro selections, and has thrown for 61,582 yards with 456 touchdowns and has a career 97.2 passer rating. The question really is, why did it take until Brady was headed into his age 40 season for him to end up on the cover of Madden? He will be the oldest player to ever make the cover.

They wouldn't let me break the full-length mirror... All good!

Of course, at some point, the Madden Curse has to be brought up, and after Gronkowski was limited to just eight games played last year, with his lowest reception (25), yards (540), and touchdown (3) totals of his career, it is a discussion that will be had. If you do not believe in the “curse,” that’s great, but it at least will give us something to debate over the next few weeks (months? season? whenever Brady befalls the curse and is injured?).

Madden 18, including Brady’s yelling face (because of the Madden Curse injury he has just suffered?), will be available August 25,
