NFL Draft results 2017: Dolphins seventh-round pick is Isaiah Ford

The Miami Dolphins’ seventh-round picks is in!

NCAA Football: Belk Bowl-Arkansas vs Virginia Tech Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins2017 NFL Draft comes to a close with their seventh pick of the selection process. They made a pick in each of the first three rounds, but did not have a selection in the fourth round. In the fifth round, they started with three picks, but made a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to move up a couple of spot, losing a fifth-round pick in the process but gaining a sixth-round pick.

In the seventh round, the Dolphins originally opened the day with the 223rd pick, the fifth in the round, but they traded back with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Miami moved to the 237 overall pick, as well as adding a 2018 seventh-round selection, in the trade. They then used that pick to select Isaiah Ford, WR, Virginia Tech.

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein writes of Ford:

Tall but thin, Ford uses his suddenness to uncover on all three levels and his speed to climb over the top and stress defenses vertically. His play strength is concerning as NFL cornerbacks will consistently challenge him off the line of scrimmage. He also has to prove he can be effective when facing zone coverage. He has the height and speed to be a deep-ball menace in the right scheme, but he has a little lower floor than some Day 2 receiver prospects in this draft.

The pick concludes Miami’s 2017 NFL Draft. Now on to undrafted free agent signings.
