The Miami Dolphins’ 2017 schedule has been released and as fans we are going over it with a fine-toothed comb. Descriptions of the schedule, the travel, the order of the games, and everything else range from loving it to hating it. But, what game stands out to you as the biggest one on the schedule?
There are lots of games that could be a test for the Dolphins. The Week 6 game at the NFC Champion Atlanta Falcons could be huge. It’s the first game on the schedule against a 2016 playoff team for Miami, and could be a challenge to prove the Dolphins are ready to continue their climb toward challenging the New England Patriots.
The Dolphins also have a span of three straight weeks, Week 8, 9, and 10, in which they are playing in prime time. It starts with the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football, then the Oakland Raiders on Sunday Night Football, and the Carolina Panthers on Monday Night Football.
After the Week 11 bye week, the Dolphins head north for the first game against the New England Patriots this season, then, after hosting the Denver Broncos in Week 13, they host the Patriots in Week 14 on Monday Night Football.
The season then ends with the Buffalo Bills in Weeks 15 and 17, while a visit to the Kansas City Chiefs is sandwiched between.
What’s the biggest game on the schedule for Miami? I would argue the Monday Night Football game against the Patriots. If the Dolphins are going to challenge for the AFC East division title, they have to do it by defending their home stadium against the Patriots. The Week 12 game, coming out of the bye, in New England could be a big one as well, given Miami has the extra week to prepare for the Super Bowl champs, but Monday night, in front of a national audience, with a chance to show the country that the Dolphins are for real. That is huge.
