The Miami Dolphins signed free agent offensive tackle Avery Young on Wednesday, providing the team with additional depth along the offensive line. A 2016 undrafted free agent by the New Orleans Saints, Avery is a native of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He played left guard, right guard, and right tackle at Auburn.

Young was waived by the Saints in February after spending the entire 2016 season on the Non-Football Injury list. The Saints never disclosed what injury caused the designation. He did practice mid-way through the season, but was never removed from the NFI list.

The Dolphins also waived cornerback Daniel Davie with a non-football injury designation. Davie was signed by the Dolphins in January, having spent time with the Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers during training camp and the preseason last year. He was signed as a 2016 undrafted free agent by the Colts out of Nebraska. The nature of Davie’s injury was not disclosed.
