The Dolphins bolstered their linebacker unit with the addition of Lawrence Timmons. Timmons brings a veteran presence to the unit and could play either middle linebacker or the outside. The Dolphins wanted to add two starters to go along with Kiko Alonso and the team got a good one with Timmons.

The team also added some defensive line depth with the trade for William Hayes.
