Allen is a former second round pick (2010) of the Philadelphia Eagles. He spent his first five seasons with them before testing the free agent market and signing with the Oakland Raiders. He signed a four-year deal with the Raiders but was released after only one season but re-signed for less money.
Last season in Oakland, Allen recorded 33 tackles, two interceptions and three pass defenses in 14 games. He has a career total of 368 tackles, 4.0 sacks, 34 pass defenses, 13 interceptions, and 3 forced fumbles. During his first year in Oakland, he suffered a torn MCL which cost him eleven games.
The Dolphins will be waiving Isa Abdul-Quddus, who’s playing career may be in jeopardy due to a neck injury. Allen will most likely take over that spot, opposite of Reshad Jones who signed a five-year contract extension yesterday.
