The Miami Dolphins have added another defensive end in an early Friday morning trade with the Los Angeles Rams. The trade sends Miami’s sixth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft to Los Angeles for William Hayes and the Rams’ seventh-round pick.

Hayes will join Cameron Wake, Andre Branch, Terrence Fede, Dion Jordan, Julius Warmsley, and Arthur Miley in the defensive ends group. He was originally a fourth-round draft choice of the Tennessee Titans in 2008. After four seasons with the Titans, he moved to the Rams, first in St. Louis from 2012 to 2015 then in Los Angeles last year.

In 2016, Hayes started 14 games with 43 tackles and five sacks. For his career, he has 312 tackles, 34.5 sacks, one interception, five passes defensed, seven forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries.

The Dolphins have also met with free agent defensive end Jabaal Sheard, though the meeting ended on Thursday without a contract agreement.
