Jarvis Landry claims NFL receptions title

NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Miami Dolphins Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Heading into the final weekend of the NFL season, Miami Dolphins wide receiver led the league in receptions, with a two catch advantage over the Arizona Cardinals’ Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald was able to close that gap early, taking a two reception lead into the two player’s respective halftimes. With eight receptions at his intermission, Fitzgerald was up 109 to Landry’s 107.

It took until the fourth quarter for Landry to climb back into a 109-109 tie with Fitzgerald. He then added another catch a few plays later, picking up his 110th reception, which tied the franchise record for most catches in a season, a record he set in 2015.

He picked up two more receptions to reach 112 on the year, but then was ejected after a fight erupted as he scored a touchdown on that 112th catch. He had 987 yards with 9 touchdowns.

Fitzgerald would finish the season with 109 catches.
