According to multiple media sites, the Miami Dolphins have released Byron Maxwell.
Originally a part of the much ballyhooed trade with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016 that sent us Maxwell and Kiko Alonso, Maxwell showed elite play and head-scratching blunders on his 2016 game tape. Maxwell played 107 snaps this season before becoming a free agent.
It was widely speculated that Maxwell would not be returning to the Miami Dolphins after this season. The release allows Maxwell to find a new home and team earlier than expected, which the Miami Dolphins front office has made an effort in doing for its veteran players.
Cordrea Tankersley, Xavien Howard, Bobby McCain, and Alterraun Verner will continue to man the CB group.
The team also announced they have signed David Fales in response to the Jay Cutler injury.
