What Happened Here? A New Phinsider Series.

Let’s dig into some tape and see how nuanced this game can be.

NFL: Tennessee Titans at Miami Dolphins Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

I love the different interpretations about football out there, even when you’re wrong and stupid, and I’m right and correct and an A+ student and handsome.

This series is about us Miami Dolphins fans coming together, realizing the devil is in the details. Each week, provided my children don’t murder me in my sleep, I’ll post 2 GIF’s of the same play to give us a chance to “break down some film.” Sometimes it’ll be a good play; sometimes it’ll be a bad play. I’m a pretty whimsical guy, deal with it.

I’ll set the context of the play, and then we’ll all chime in, myself included (I’ll post in the Comments Section with everyone else).

Context: 3rd and 5, 1:56 remaining in the 2nd quarter, Dolphins up 10-3.

Here’s a look at the route combinations and pre-snap adjustments by the defense...

Here’s a look at the protection...

What happened here? Why didn’t this play work?
